I visited the Castle Heidenfeld as my great-grandfather recorded it about 15 years ago. He was born there 2 February 1852. I brought our family pictures and documents. The nuns were so wonderful. It was like a reunion. They gave us a tour of part of the castle. One of my documents said Baron Bodeck owned the property. They told us the Catholic Church bought the castle from him for 100 pieces of gold. The place is self-sufficient. They grow crops on the land and sell them. I brought three of my children with me. My oldest was 27 years, the others 12 and 16 years. When it was time to depart, the nuns gave us photos of the grounds. It was exciting for us to experience a touch of the richness of the past and a connection to our roots!
Everything is wonderful and great until you have a problem, they are not friendly, neither pleasant nor friendly, the first night we had been confirmed a different room than we had booked, when we saw the we had noticed that it was with shared bathroom , When making the complaint came the problems, the bad faces the sighs etc, they flatly refused to refund the second night as we assumed the cost of the first, we ended up spending the two nights in a very small and very unfriendly room, Dirty and with an auxiliary bed that were pressed the irons in the back, to top the top hour of breakfast is 9:30 am on the last day at 9:34 am they flatly refused to give us breakfast even our 10 year old son . Very bad experience, I advise against this place, do not get carried away by the gentle face of the nun of the photo.
