We recently moved our kids from another area international school to HIS. We are extremely pleased with the move. When we first toured HIS, we found it professional and organized. This has translated down to everyday living for the kids, as the curriculum is very clear, well delivered and parents and kids all know what is expected ...but there is much more. We have also found it very warm and comfortable. Most families are here from somewhere else, so everyone is friendly and helpful. The school administration is very focused on the kids and learning in a positive environment. The facilities are great...excellent library, fully equipped science lab, workshop, gym, computers available in all classes, playground (has small soccer field as well as great play areas), smart boards in each room, large, bright classrooms in a purpose built school. The library, is really fantastic and the librarian is always doing something fun with the kids to encourage reading and research. There are book fairs many events around the library. The big change for our middle school child is the school life. Every night there are programs after school for kids from 1st grade up to high school age. These activities are offered for a very reasonable fee. Activities like art, self defense, bike repair, percussion, choir to name a few. There are also great volunteer activities for the kids....helping a charity or building the set for the play. Kids and parents are also allowed to stay on the playground after school until 4:30. This is a great help as you get to know new people and to have easy "during the week" playdates.

As kids get older, these extracurricular activities are very important and were not available at our last school. The teachers are very good and know the curriculum. The assistants are also well qualified. Our kids have had very enriching field trips already that have added to the in-class activities. The school offers workshops and information sessions for parents which are very interesting and timely. The parent group organizes very nice activities for parents and kids.

Unprofessional handling of temporary situation. Extremely disappointed, total waste of time and money. Stay away!!

We highly recommend HIS to parents in the area and those coming from abroad.

The key thing for us is the education. We have only been there 5 months, but we already see an improvement in our kids in terms of education in key subjects. With a calm, structured environment, that is also fun and interesting, our kids are thriving, learning and becoming much better students. An overseas move is hard and good environment at school can ease this for kids and parents alike. We are very happy to have such a good school in Heidelberg.
